I’ve just realized that I didn’t mention that I was at this gig, back in June. (As a punter, not performer!)
The lineup included OMD, Human League, Midge Ure (+band electronica), Blancmange, Nik Kershaw, Go West, Five star (actually one star..) and a load of others.
I’d already seen Midge Ure the month before at Stockton Globe (Fantastic) so I knew what to expect. Midge just went for it, no chat. Just hits. He doesn’t need Ultravox when he has this band behind him..
OMD were the standout performance though.. I’ve never seen them live before and this was amazing. The crowd were right behind them, singing along to the tunes as well as the words. Outstanding.
Human League were the headliners, surprisingly, and they were great. They certainly surprised me! They are great live.. at the end, the lights went off, people started to leave.. then, an encore! They even did Being Boiled!
Outstanding show overall, in a lovely park. In bright sunshine.. what more could you ask for?
